  7. DirectX is a Microsoft application that allows Windows 95 and Windows 98 to have real time access to your hardware.  The current version on April 1999 is DirectX 6.1.

  9. DirectX will check to see if your system files need to be updated. Your drivers will only be updated if required.

  11. The DirectX folder on the CD contains a diagnostic tool (dxdiag) which can be used to identify sound and video card problems.  
  12.  
  13. Please note that some manufacturers do not yet have DirectX support and have not been certified by Microsoft. In these cases you will be asked if you wish to replace the driver with a certified driver. If you find that the display or sound card does not work we suggest that you reinstall the manufacturers driver.
